Knife Carrier - Probably C. 1830 +/-.  Origin not known, but probably Pennsylvania

This interesting Knife Carrier was advertised for sale in The Ohio Antique Review (now out of print) many years ago.  The neat heart cut-out center board and the scrolled and splayed sides establish this particular Knife Carrier as one of the best of its kind; rare isn't quite the word for it.  The Knife Carrier is painted in my Grungy™ old, worn and aged milk paint.  The interior is worn and aged so as to simulate the many years of use.  Even the interior sides of the scalloped end boards show evidence of having been a well used Knife Carrier.  Since Pennsylvania used hearts on their Folk Art motifs and designs and in other areas of decoration, it is thought, as I mentioned before, that it was originally from my home state, Pennsylvania.  The nice little carrier with a lot of country charm.

Prices:  $195.00 in natural aged pine
$235.00 in worn and aged Grungy™ milk paint

(additional photo below)

This photo shows basically the same Knife Carrier except, of course, for the different color being an "old" pleasing smooth red milk paint rather than a Grungy™ old blue.  The other slight difference is the cut out of the center board itself where it meets the end board.  There is a little design "step-up".
