        An introduction to Fireside Reproductions is an Introduction to the wonderful world of American Country Antiques, both Country Furniture and Country Smalls, made by hand prior to 1850; 1850 is generally recognized as the beginning of the American Industrial Revolution.

OUR GOAL: To offer our prospective clients authentic, functional reproductions of American Antique Country Furniture, Smalls and Windsor chairs/settees made prior to 1850.

PURPOSE: To help regenerate and maintain the pride that was once taken in making furniture in America. An author, I read some time ago, stated that the American Industrial Revolution (1850) marked the end of pride being taken in furniture making in America. I personally believe some of that lost pride is being brought back via the "New Age Generation" of FINE FURNITURE MAKERS and FINE FINISHERS, who are today making high quality reproductions of both Early American FORMAL and COUNTRY FURNITURE. I salute these FINE ARTISANS for doing their part to revitalize the lost skills of furniture making and for bringing some of that old pride back to the TRADE.

PHILOSOPHY: That American Country antiques are fun: to have and enjoy, to collect, to care for and, of course, to design room settings with; those wonderful antique country pieces. However, with the steady increases in prices of all antiques, many people are unable to comfortably afford pieces that they would like to have and enjoy.

        The alternative to acquiring originals, of course, is to seek reproductions that most resemble the originals in every manner possible. The reproductions are inexpensive compared to the originals, yet offer almost the same benefits as do the originals: collecting various makers' pieces, being able to talk to the makers (try that when collecting antiques), not having to worry about 350 lb. Uncle Harry coming for a visit and sitting in your newly acquired $3,500.00 sack back Windsor chair and, of course, being able to decorate your HOME with great country pieces that are fun to live with. Each Country piece has its own personality and charm, each in its own way, and each piece has its own story to tell as well.
